Silkzers are designer dogs resulting from the cross between a Miniature Schnauzer and a Silky Terrier. The mix of these two distinctive breeds produce the Silkzer which exhibit the appearance, characteristics, traits, temperament, and qualities derived from both or either parent.

The Silky Terrier stems from Australia and traces its roots in the 1890s. They are actually initially a cross themselves from imported Yorkshire Terriers with native Australian Terriers. The Silky-looking puppies were then interbred until the offspring had predictable Silky traits.
