This relatively new breed has no specific history. It is a cross between a Rottweiler and the Afghan Hound. The Rottweiler is a German breed, descended from Roman Mastiff’s and crossbred with the native German dogs. Afghans are also an old breed and are sighthounds from the Afghanistan mountains.
Both parent breeds have an imposing demeanor and are good for security and hunting as well as companion dogs. If the dog exhibits a strong Rottweiler appearance it will have a stocky build and a large chest. The Afghan has a longer, more elegant lines. It can be between two and three feet in height and weigh from 75-130 pounds.
This dog is high energy and wary of strangers but is a good family companion. This dog is a good guard dog. The dog should be trained and may not realize their own strength.
This breed is large and will need a lot of space and plenty of food. This dog will thrive on regular exercise and a healthy diet. They can live to be between ten to fourteen years old.
