The Pugapoo is a designer hybrid dog breed, usually a cross between the Poodle and the Pug. It is basically possible for this breed to possess more or less than 50% of either parent breed usually depending on breeding. Food or Diet
The Pugapoo is commonly a small dog breed hence it should be provided dog food which is specifically formulated for small-breed dogs. This type of dog food is prepared to satisfy the energy requirements of small breed dogs.

Training

These dog breed is a fairly smart because it is a cross between the Poodle and the Pug which are very intelligent dog breeds. These dogs seem to be highly friendly to new people and receptive to places when they are exposed to them when they are young puppies. They respond well to training with positive reinforcement. Training and socialization should be started as early as possible to avoid development of problem behaviours.

Health

The Pugapoo is generally a healthy breed as in many situations cross-bred dogs are less prone to congenital conditions compared to pure-bred dogs and this is because their gene pool is much bigger. Anyway, Pugapoos can likely develop certain conditions and can be potentially affected by a number of different diseases. Some of the usual conditions include breathing problems, eye problems, allergies and hip dysplasia. Frequent visits to veterinary and check-ups by the veterinarian is encouraged to maintain dog’s health.

Grooming

Grooming needs of the Pugapoo rely on the kind of coat he has. The curly Poodle coat which sheds less requires cleaning every 4 to 6 weeks. Clippers come in handy in regular clipping of the curly coat to prevent over growth and result to painful infections to the skin. The short Pug-type coat sheds and is easy to maintain for it only needs regular daily brushing. Pugapoo’s ears require to be kept clean and dry by cleaning them regularly using a cleaning solution certainly recommended or approved by your veterinarian. Nails should also be trimmed every week or two and teeth brushed frequently using pet toothpaste also approved by the veterinarian for fresh breath and good overall health. This is necessary for small dogs are especially more likely to develop periodontal disease.
