The Kashon is a designer dog breed that is a mix of the purebreds Bichon Frise and Cairn Terrier. The Bichon is thought to originate from the Barbet and the Mediterranean tracing way back to the 1300s, while the Cairn Terrier breed was developed over 200 years ago within the Isle of Skye in Scotland. It was in the 1990s when different hybrid dogs gained popularity, one of which is the talented Kashon which derives its personality, traits and looks from either or both parents.
Kashons have an average height of 15 inches and weighs around 10-25 pounds. They have small bodies, floppy ears, a straight or curled tail, and commonly have an underbite. Their coats may be soft and silky, rough and coarse, or come with curls and wire-like hairs. They arrive in a myriad of colors including Black, Tan, Light Brown / Golden, Gray / Salt & Pepper, White / Cream, Red and White.
The Bichon Frise + Cairn Terrier mix is generally good-tempered and loves to play. They are very cheerful and loyal, happy, family-oriented, intelligent, sturdy dogs who will fit perfectly into apartment or farm life. However, they tend to be Bossy with other dogs, even to breeds that are larger than its own small size. They are quite active, attentive to their surroundings, and are very good jumpers.
They may develop bladder problems, can be prone to allergies themselves, and have a high tendency of getting fat. Hence, they should get enough exercise for optimal fitness and health. Adequate playtime and long walks on the park would be ideal activities for the Kashon. Be wary though that they are inclined to run after small animals such as squirrels or rodents, so it’s advisable to let them roam only within a fenced yard.
