The Care-Tzu is a cross-bred dog created by cross-breeding the Cairn Terrier and the Shih Tzu. They hair length is of medium size (unlike Shih-tzu that has long hair, and Cairn Terrier known for its short curly coat). With their small and cute look, these designer dogs are quite popular among rich people and celebrities. They make a wonderful companion dogs.

Physical Appearance

Care-Tzu is a small dog that weights around 10-18 pounds. They look longer than what their height is, but that doesn’t make them look disproportionate. Care-Tzu has a long tail that is usually held up and wags constantly. The ears of Care-Tzu are floppy. The muzzle is small and the nose is black colored. The coat of Care-Tzu is scuffy or wiry in terms of looks, but is soft to touch. They have fluffy fur on the face but do not have much of an undercoat. Care-Tzu can be found in grey, silver, tan, black, white or combination of these colors.


Care-Tzu draws temperamental characteristics from both Cairn Terrier and Shih Tzu. Care-Tzu is a very playful dog and cheerful dog. The love to be around people and make for excellent family dogs. They love to greet people by wagging their tail and giving kisses. They are good with children and love to play with them. Care-Tzu loves to play with toys but they are not exactly toy fetchers.

Health Concerns

They are subject to certain diseases like kidney conditions (renal dysplasia) and slipped kneecaps or stifles. If fed well with nutritious food, and provided with lot of exercise, these dogs can live healthy up to 12 to 14 years.
